The Gowns We Loved at the Academy Awards

Oh that Cate Blanchett could make a paperbag look amazing. Her dress at last nights Academy Awards was just beautiful. In a seafoam green with feather flower appliqués and Swarovski crystal centers was such a show stopper against her creamy white skin. Though the shoulders could have been a little less, the deep plunging neckline really made her look fabulous. Alicia Vikander had the best color of the evening with a pale yellow Louis Vuitton. The dress was adorned with mirrors, crystals, and beads but didn’t take away at all from the way that color laid on her olive skin. Saoirse Ronan with her emerald green Calvin Klein dress surely made her native home of Ireland proud.
A real show stopper, or at least a red carpet stopper was Lady Gaga in her Brandon Maxwell gown/pants. It was so understated for what we are use to with her, she pulled it off perfectly with her old Hollywood hair and makeup. She knows how to give us an illusion and it felt a bit like being transported back in time. Charlize Theron’s red Christian Dior looked impeccable on her, making some of us wonder if she was born dressed. Not to be forgotten was Kate Winslet in that liquid Ralph Lauren gown. The more Kate moved in that dress the more it just danced on her body.
